Asset Tracking

RFI

RFID Asset Tracking enables you to know at any time the exact location of your goods and load carriers such as pallets, racks, roll containers, crates and boxes.

The efficient identification, tracking and localisation of assets poses an important challenge in warehouses and logistics environments. The internal processes often involve manual procedures, which are inherently error-prone. This can lead, among other things, to asset searches, an inaccurate stock, delays, expensive secondary deliveries, frustration among the staff and customers and unnecessary costs.

By automating logistics processes and stock management with RFID technology, you have control of and an insight into everything what happens with your assets.

All movements are registered and the captured data, including asset information, time and location, are made available to your used software packages via RFID Middleware. This allows you, among other things, to evaluate the turnaround times of your logistics processes and optimise the material flows in the logistics flow. Real-time information enables fast decision-making, an important competitive advantage.

RFID tags

Every item and/or load carrier is equipped with an RFID tag or an RFID label which contains the unique information of the assets.

RFID readers and RFID antennas

The tag data are read at strategic points by means of RFID gates, fixed reading equipment on a wall, post, ceiling or in the ground, handheld scanners. Also forklifts can be equipped with RFID detection equipment.

Picking & Shipping

Picking & Shipping is considered to be one of the most expensive and labour-intensive activities for warehouses. It is therefore very important that this process is as cost-effective as possible.

The entire process from picking list to shipment can be optimised and controlled with RFID. Goods in warehouses and distribution centres which are collected, packaged and shipped for outgoing orders can be validated by using RFID.

When picking and packing individual goods in a shipment, RFID is used to automatically identify at item or pallet level and verify whether certain goods are missing or were incorrectly added to a shipment.

RFID can also play a role in reducing picking search times. Use can be made, for example, of location tags at fixed locations where goods are stored (shelves, racks, floor locations or zones within a warehouse). Another possibility is to use a search function available on a handheld; based on the signal strength of the tag, you can detect how close an item is to you.

RFID
RFID scanning of the picked goods

Using a (digital) picking list, goods are taken from stock. They are scanned – via an RFID handheld or RFID gate – and validated for the order.

RFID Gate
RFID scanning to check the shipment

The pallets with goods ready for shipment are scanned one last time prior to transport. Upon shipment, a proof of shipment is generated.

Inventory

RFID Inventory

Thanks to the automatic identification of goods and load carriers and the elimination of manual counting, RFID increases the accuracy of your inventory.

Your assets do not have to be taken out or moved; scanning can be done remotely via handhelds, a mobile RFID reader or via fixed RFID readers which automatically scan the stock in a storage room, continuously or at fixed intervals. This speeds up the inventory process and reduces the labour costs and the disruption of the logistics activities.

Efficient stock management with RFID helps improve your planning and forecasts and ensures better availability of your goods. Stock shortages are avoided, a crucial aspect of stock management in various industries, for several reasons. With the trend of e-commerce today where buyers want to be served quickly, the unavailability of a product can result in customers going to the competitors.

By constantly having an accurate overview of your stock and by registering every change, you are able to respond quickly and meet your customers’ demands, even during peak periods.

Cross Docking

RFID-Cross-Docking

By transporting incoming goods immediately from suppliers to customers without intermediate storage, you can save a lot of costs and the customer will receive the goods faster.

RFID enables a precise registration and tracking of the flow of goods. This registration gives you real-time insights into receipt and loading times and allows you to double-check the completeness of your shipments.

The history of your flow of goods can be valuable to further develop your processes and make them even more efficient.

Delivered goods are scanned – via an RFID handheld or RFID gate – and immediately linked to a new shipment (picking list).

RFID scanning control

When moving the goods from receipt to loading zone, they are scanned again for verification (during the movement or in the loading zone itself) and a loading list and Proof of Shipment document is printed.

Forklift Solution

RFID Forklift Solution

The use of smart forklifts, equipped with RFID technology, enables the full automation of intensive manual operations to trace and process goods.

Mounting the RFID equipment on the forklifts also reduces the need to install (more expensive) fixed reading points, such as RFID gates installed to track the flow of goods. Aucxis developed the ATLAS Forklift Automation solution which offers a unique combination of identification (load carriers) and localisation within a process flow in logistics environments.

Identification of your products

Automatic load control is made possible by the use of passive RFID. No more time-consuming procedures like checking off lists from WMS and ERP systems, either manually or through barcode scanning. Forklifts can be provided with detection equipment for reading RFID tags. This equipment ensures the automatic scanning and registration of the goods or load carriers carried along such as pallets, boxes, containers,… all equipped with an RFID tag.

Localisation of your products

For locating the transport equipment and its goods, passive RFID, GPS or BLE can be used. Location detection can take place in real time and continuously, or only at crucial places, for example in case of change of zone (floor location, rack location, including precise height measurements), or at the moment of scanning, pick-up and drop-off, etc.
