VITAZ opts for RFID

The hospital will automate its logistics processes and track thousands of medical and non-medical devices using passive RFID technology.

VITAZ, a dynamic hospital in Belgium with six campuses across the Waasland region, is committed to providing innovative and high-quality healthcare. Focusing on efficiency, VITAZ has taken a major step in improving its asset management by implementing an advanced tracking system based on RFID technology.

After an extensive tender process that gave various providers the opportunity to showcase their technologies and solutions, the project was awarded to Aucxis. VITAZ has opted for an RFID solution that allows accurate tracking of numerous medical and non-medical assets, tools and devices across its different departments and campuses. By using mobile RFID antennas, RFID handheld scanners and fixed RFID readers, the hospital can define the location of tagged items in real time. These data are immediately sent to a central asset management platform that integrates seamlessly with the various internal ERP systems, including the Facility Management Information System (FMIS).

RFID technology enables the wireless identification of devices, allowing scanning both within rooms and from the central corridors. Additionally, RFID gates will be installed at strategic locations.

With the introduction of this new system, VITAZ emphasises its commitment to innovation and further focuses on operational efficiency within the hospital. Aucxis looks forward to collaborating with VITAZ to successfully launch this project.
