RSC Anderlecht enhances the fan experience with smart reusable cups and an automatic deposit refund system. In collaboration with Aucxis, the club aims to offer its visitors a pleasant, hassle-free and eco-friendly experience.

As an iconic Belgian football club, RSC Anderlecht is strengthening its position as a leader in fan experiences by introducing the STAR RFID solution for reusable cups. This innovation builds on RSCA’s successful digital transformation, which has already led to shorter waiting times and significant revenue growth. 

By implementing STAR, Anderlecht introduces an innovative system to efficiently manage reusable cups using RFID technology. The cups are scanned quickly and accurately in large stacks, allowing for easy returns and an automatic, seamless deposit refund. This initiative represents a promising collaboration with innovative partners such as deSter, Adyen, Twelve and Bevers & Bevers, all aiming to create an improved and sustainable stadium experience. 

Additionally, the STAR RFID solution provides full traceability of each cup, giving the club valuable insights to further optimise logistics and sustainability. By maximising cup collection for reuse, the initiative directly contributes to reducing plastic waste and supports the club’s sustainability goals.

"Over the last season, the club made great progress in enhancing the fan experience. In addition, this summer, considerable investments were made in both infrastructure and experience. A smart solution for reusable cups, designed to be convenient and efficient for all fans, is fully in line with the goals we have set for RSCA." 

The first phase of the smart cup solution will kick off in mid-September, starting with the installation in stand 1. The plan is to have the entire stadium operational after the winter break. This phased rollout allows RSC Anderlecht to optimise its processes gradually and integrate the technology carefully, highlighting the club’s dedication to innovation, sustainability and enhancing the fan experience in every corner of the stadium.
