Increasing demand for RFID in the concrete industry

In recent months, we have noticed an increasing demand from the market for the deployment of RFID technology in the concrete sector. Since RFID can visibly accelerate the manufacturing and construction process for concrete structures, it is a valuable application indeed. 

The prefabricated concrete material is equipped with RFID tags, after which it can be traced by using mobile RFID readers. RFID tags are preferably attached in the factory after curing. The control is applied two times: before shipment and on site after transport and mounting. The parties concerned can consult all data in one central system no longer time-consuming paperwork or problems with hard-to-read barcodes.

RFID tags also offer the possibility to save additional information about the quality of the concrete elements. Using RTLS (Real Time Location System), the material’s location can be called up at any time. The exact data about stocks and volumes enable to apply the just-in-time principle.
