Following a successful Proof of Concept, Aucxis was awarded the contract by ACB to conduct an RFID pilot for cargo tracking and tracing.

As the air cargo community representation, ACB (Air Cargo Belgium) strives to make BRUcargo the most attractive, efficient, innovative and successful logistical platform. Within the scope of this objective, a project was initiated to explore whether and how RFID can optimise cargo handling and tracking. ACB engaged Aucxis to carry out a Proof of Concept.

Working alongside ACB, handler dnata and forwarders Kuehne + Nagel and Expeditors, various setups were tested during the POC to determine the optimal situation for an RFID pilot. This pilot will track cargo going from the forwarder to the handler’s warehouse and onwards until it is loaded onto the aircraft. Throughout this process, multiple time and location stamps will be measured. The aim of this project is to automate the recording of timestamps and locations providing full transparency to the BRUcargo community.

By deploying RFID technology, cargo handling can be highly efficient and accurate, reducing workload and generating time savings. A previous POC showed a time gain of 4 minutes, reducing the average acceptance time from 5.6 minutes to 1.5 minutes. This will be tested again during the pilot project.

For the RFID pilot, Aucxis provides a comprehensive solution, including the selection and delivery of suitable tags and RFID equipment, development of customised user software, and overall implementation.
