Last spring Aucxis automated the internal logistic processes and the registration of outgoing machines of Aertssen Logistics with RFID technology. The integration of registration plate recognition of the loaded trucks driving through the fixed RFID gate upon departure is thus the icing on the cake.

RFID Asset Tracking provides a smart combination of RFID modules for a more efficient and more accurate registration, localisation and inventory of the machines, as well as for the registration of outgoing movements through watertight and weather-resistant outdoor gates. In this way, Aertssen Logistics exactly knows which machines leave the site at what time.

After the taking-into-service of this comprehensive RFID system, Aertssen Logistics decided to further automate by using registration plate recognition on the fixed gate to automatically identify the trucks and to link them to their load.

Before leaving Aertssen Logistics’ site, the trucks loaded with machines pass first through the fixed RFID gate. At that moment, the machines’ data is read and sent to the POLARIS software, after which the corresponding transport note (CMR) is created and printed.

Previously, the administration department needed to manually link this CMR to the correct truck, but the installation of a camera for registration plate recognition at the fixed outdoor gate and some changes in the POLARIS software and the Aucxis middleware HERTZ enables to establish this link automatically now. This extension allows the driver to pick up the papers even faster before departure and, furthermore, he is sure he receives the correct transport note.

Aertssen Logistics is very happy with the automation project. Steven Heyndrickx, IT Analyst: We had 3 objectives: identification, inventory & localisation and outgoing control. RFID technology offered a perfect solution.”
