Aucxis selects or develops the most appropriate RFID tag(s) for your application. The correct choice of tags is crucial for the good functioning of an RFID project. In many cases, tags which are available on the market are sufficient, but sometimes there is a need for customisation, due to specific wishes with regard to the design or environmental factors.

The basis of each tag is a minuscule RFID IC or chip, which contains a communication and memory module. An antenna is connected to this chip. In most cases, the size of the antenna is decisive for the reading distance. The larger the RFID antenna, the larger the reading distance. The tag or transponder always contains a unique (programmable) code which is read by an RFID reader or scanner.

Hard tags, also called rugged tags, have a solid housing, suitable for the most aggressive environments. Examples include ‘on metal’ RFID tags, washable clothing tags, tags with temperature or other sensors and even high temperature tags, suitable for the most extreme conditions.

RFID labels, also called RFID stickers, are labels which are equipped with an RFID tag. The most recent standard label printers are RFID ready, which means that they can be equipped with a module to read and program RFID tags. The contents which are printed on the RFID label are also written to the RFID tag.

BLE tags

Bluetooth Low Energy or BLE is the low-energy version of Bluetooth. Sensors, wearables and simple devices use this wireless technology to exchange small amounts of data.

A BLE tag is a shock-resistant tag that has its own battery. The tag transmits its unique ID at fixed intervals via radio frequency and can last for several years, depending on the chosen signal intervals. There are different types of BLE tags on the market, e.g. BLE wristbands, BLE key rings, mountable BLE tags, etc. A BLE gateway wirelessly collects the data of tagged goods or people and then sends the data to the cloud via Ethernet, WIFI or mobile wireless networks.

BLE can be used to track goods and people in real time inside buildings and within defined outdoor areas. BLE tags designed for this purpose are very energy-efficient and cheap.

NFC tags

NFC stands for Near Field Communication. This technology allows wireless data exchange at very short distances, making communication very secure. The most common application of NFC technology is contactless payment. In companies, NFC is often used for marketing purposes, e.g. to give product information.

Dual Frequency Tags

Dual frequency tags offer an inexpensive possibility to manufacturers and retailers to expand their activities to a better interaction with the end users. RFID tags are sold, for example, which combine HF (NFC) and UHF frequencies in one single tag. In this way, the demanding requirements of retail, industry and logistics businesses can be met. In combination with the right software, these tags offer a solution for the control of the entire supply chain, stock management for warehouses, product authentication and interaction with the end user.

RFID logger

RFID data logger tags are stand-alone, battery-equipped tags that, in combination with sensors, register environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, CO2, pressure,…) during storage and transport of products. The measurements are stored in the tag for short or longer periods and sent to a central server, either locally or in the cloud from an RFID reading point. The technology also makes it possible to generate immediate alarms in case irregularities in the environmental conditions should occur. This allows appropriate action to be taken so that the risk of actual damage or quality degradation is minimised.

RFID loggers provide a perfect link in the track & trace process of products in the cold chain where the accurate monitoring of environmental conditions is a must.

Hybrid Tag

Durable ticket holder with RFID chip which is mounted on an ISO module in the module racks of a Kanban stock system. When replenishing or taking away a product, the operator can turn the cover allowing the centrally based RFID antennas to identify the stock status in real time.

Intelligent tag which can handle various modern technologies and which is easy to use for various applications, and this in the most energy-efficient way possible. Based on intelligence and the environment of the tag, it will autonomously determine which technique (passive or active) is preferred.
